goes to California
For a gloriously sunny week in October we went with three demonstration saddles to the Richochet Ridge Ranch on the Northern California coast, home to international endurance rider and Tevis Cup winner Lari Shea, who had discovered our saddle through the Internet and suggested she try it out with a view to promoting it in the US. Lari threw us some tough challenges, including fitting a saddle to her daughter Fuchsia's horse, Sierra, whose high and long wither and pronounced sway back conformation had defeated all previous attempts. However, the adjustability of thesaddle came up trumps, and Fuchsia has since told us that she has ridden several hundred miles in the saddle without Sierra having the slightest tendency to a sore back.
Lari and some of her staff, as well as visiting Australian international endurance rider June Pederson, rode several different horses in our saddles, while we had a taste of Western style saddles, during beautiful rides on the beach and through the Redwood forests. We also had a visit from a dressage rider from Oregon who drove through the night to come to California to try the saddle. She now is the first US owner of adressage saddle. Lari Shea has agreed to be a focal point forin the US. In December Lari took herand horses to a top level Endurance clinic where it generated a lot of interest. After the clinic Lari commented: "I rode my new saddle at the clinic, and really did love it. ... My horse was absolutely spectacular at the clinic performing breathtaking dressage all three days". Lari Shea's web site address is www.horse-vacation.com

Saddles in all Riding Disciplines

We have saddles used now in every riding discipline, Dressage, Classical Riding, Eventing, Show Jumping, Hunting, Le Trec and Western Style; on every type and breed of horse from Warmbloods to Icelandics, Lusitano's to Ponies.

We now have a group of Classical/Dressage riders in the Cheshire/North Wales area after Jo Ellis' horse Derby performed so well at the CRC Road Show at Alsager. TheSaddle also features in Sylvia Loch's enlightening new book Dressage in Lightness on her school master horse Vaidoso.

We also have quite a number of Icelandic Horses in thesaddle. Jenny Kidd took her horse Lotning to Gold Series in Endurance riding this year. Magnus Larusson, a well known trainer in Icelandic circles, has tried the saddle at various clinics in Scotland and England and has now ordered his own Trekker I for delivery at his next UK clinic in April 2001. Magnus' web site is www. gauksmyri.is

Sarah Millard who events and show jumps on her two horses Lord Gaunt and Chatsworth has done very well this year on both her horses.

The editor of Equestrian Trade News, Liz Benwell, now has two saddles, one for jumping and hunting (GP Jumping) on her horse Alby and the other (Endurance Special) for endurance riding on her second horse L'Egoiste.

Of Alby she writes: "The saddle has been hunting and show jumping and has been marvellous. I'm sure Alby's back has levelled up and he hardly puts his ears back now when saddling up. Many thanks!"

Rebecca Harrison breeds Dales Ponies, rides whipper in for her local hunt and competes in endurance riding on her pony Black Velvet. The pony has performed so well this year that she won the top points performance prize in the Dales Pony Society awards, an award Rebecca has coveted for many years. She attributes the success, in part, to the fact that the pony has never had a sore back throughout the year.
